We can find varied opinions and interpretations of any particular show in our immediate anime community. This community acutally spans the globe; so, we get to see all the varied opinions. It's interesting to see that they seem to match (sometimes) despite the geographic differences. You make a good point that both <em>NGE</em> and <em>Bible Black</em> transfer well to a 'Western' audience. Similarly, I suppose, <em>Bebop</em>'s play with the wandering cowboy concept slots it neatly into our sensibilities. Like how <em>Yojimbo</em> is easier watching than it at first seems, because it works with ingredients from Hammett noir.
