Belated Start of 2007 post + some history – I thought I would avoid the rush
I wasn’t planning on posting this today but I’m bored due to not having the willpower to do anything else.
Future:
It would appear that my blog has regular readers, and I am obliged to offer some insight into the future of this blog for their sake.
It’s been roughly six months since I started blogging on a whim. I was a regular anime blog reader at the time and I figured I needed something to occupy the time between watching anime and going to school. You know, other than interacting with people. I was interested in simply putting up a simple blog and infecting the internet with my thoughts.
I have worked on the appearance of the blog but not much. I was more interested in the background stuff. Aside from some small aesthetic changes, I don’t see myself changing the basic look or layout anytime soon.
Content:
As for content, I know that I have turned a few readers off by going from serious to fanboy between posts. I really can’t help it. I used my free time in December to do a little unloading of that particular aspect of this blog.
If you have been following this blog for more than a month then you caught the “train of thought” posts that I did (spanned more than a month with four posts). I’m not sure how that faired because it required a commitment to read some pretty long winded posts. Still, there will probably be more of that.
What not to expect:
- Episode by episode coverage of a series, I simply don’t have the willpower.
- breaking news, I’m usually not the first to know. Although, I’m more than happy to offer my opinion on current events.
- Fanboying about Haruhi – Everybody knows I love Yuki most
- Any drastic changes from what I’ve been doing
What to expect
- Traps – I seem to have developed a strange fondness for traps over the course of six months. Probably has to do with Peppo from Gankutsuou.
- Emotion – the emotional impact of the art and stories has been a big part of what I like to write about.
- Insight – I would hope that both of us learn something from writing / reading my post
- Some older series – Like every anime blogger I have a very large shelf of anime that I’ve been dying to blog about. If for no other reason than to give me a reason to re-watch those shows.
- New stuff – I try to keep abreast of the newer series and write about the ones I like.
- Butchering ‘leet blagger speek – because it pisses off those pompous assholes who care about such things.
- Overall, you can expect more of the same.
Public:
It would be incredibly ignorant of me to try and convince you or myself that I did not write posts with the hope that someone would read it. Referral and search traffic plays a large part in getting my post read. There are those who come here through a bookmark or subscribe to the feeds, and I would like to say that I love you the most. I’m all about favoritism.
Over the course of this blog’s life I haven’t tried very hard to get it publicized. Several very generous people added me to their blog rolls without me having to ask and I appreciate that very much.
Animenano is a large part of any success that this blog has had, but the simply fact is that more people find this blog through google than through Animenano, I’d say about 2 to 3 percent more overall. Obviously, google people are more likely to stay and read multiple posts. Still, as I’ve stated before, most anime blogs would not be as successful if not for blog aggregators.
In an attempt to get more exposure I finally submitted my blog to the Antenna. It’s been probably over a week and I haven’t seen any referrals. So, I don’t really know what’s going to happen with that.
Still, the secret to internet fame is “word of mouth.” If you, my beloved reader, truly finds my blog inspiring or an interesting read, share ME with the world **evil-LOL**.
Let us hope that there is a world to blog for next year.
Happy New Year!!!
[Did you think that was intentional?]
