Okay, I managed to get 7 episodes in before my body forcibly shut down from lack of sleep. Its better now, I managed to get a few. . .minutes of peaceful rest. At any rate Asatte no Houkou is getting better with every episode if for no other reason than Shouko happens to be the definition of kawaii. Seriously, Shouko is almost Ayu (Kanon) cute, in a I-am-an-adult-trapped-in-a-nine-year-old-body kind of way.

The show has been lacking on the emo-drama, which has been a bit of a pain. There have been many sad moments, but the lack of any true “loss” leaves one feeling like everything is going well with the characters. A child is change to an adult. An adult is changed to a child; albeit, a very cute child and no one seems to notice.

Life goes on as normal?

The show has been totally missing the best chances to give the audience an introspective view. For instance, when Hiro learned of the changes between the two girls he wasn’t as shocked as I as I thought he should have been at that instant. Although, I did like the interaction when Shouko revealed who she was to Hiro at the wishing stone, that scene couldn’t have been done better.

I can’t say that the show has been repetitive because it hasn’t, but most of these seven episodes haven’t really expanded the characters much. There isn’t much time left in the series, and if the show follows the usual formula the outlook seems to be a quickie ending and wrap-up.

Also, I know this Tetsu guy is supposed to be Karada’s best friend and close to–if not–her age, but he looks like he is twice her age if not more. That whole thing is verging on some kind of otaku-pedo fantasy if you ask me.

I don’t care as long as he stays away form my cute little Shouko.

Errata: in the last post I said that the subs were done. I’m not sure if they are. My usual sources don’t have all the subs; so, it appears that the reviews of the last episode were probably done on the raws.
