Kanon – me == jackass

I finally got around to catching up on Kanon. I’ve been hearing/reading so much about it on other blogs that I became curious.

I officially feel like a ass for making fun of the show in my last post. You cannot blame me though because I hadn’t seen any of it. That fake review was created by skimming through the wiki on Kanon.

I finished up what I will now call the Makoto arc (ending at ep 10). It was such a very poignant moment right before she disappeared. I felt the loss along with Yuuichi. I wonder if she will come back? Also, I’m not sure what that little scene at the end was meant to imply (?).

The production quality is excellent. I don’t usually rave about things like that, but it lends itself to the story. Specifically, the character designs, I like. They had to grow on me though. All the girls in Kanon are cuties in design and behavior. It was a bit of an overload because like many anime fans I suffer from the usual afflictions regarding all things “kawaii.”

If there is a fault to be found so far it would have to be the depth of the characters. There simply isn’t that much, yet. However, that aspect is supplanted by the very good interactions between characters. The way Yuuichi plays on the other characters is fun to watch while being a little odd. Is it me or does he only interact with the main female characters? I suppose it isn’t a real problem though.

I’m very curious as to what’s next.
