DNA2 – Again with the DNA*DNA…I didn’t feel like I said enough last time.

In my previous post I said that I liked DNA2 and gave a few links so that readers could find out a little bit about the series. The box set is so cheap now that it’s well worth the purchase, you can get it for around $30 here in the US.

I still felt like talking about the series a little more. So, here I am writing yet another post on one of my favorite series (I gotz a lot of them).

Plus, I wanted to use this screencap since I went through all the trouble of getting it and was not able to use it in the last post.

Karin is so cool.

Aside from the lovable Karin Aoi, none of the characters really stand out in the show. What I mean is, none of the characters induce a fanboyish posting about how cool they are. That’s actually one of the reasons that the series is good.

Junta, even though he is supposedly the main character plays the role of comic relief most of the time with his “allergy” to girls; well, that and the role of the hero when he turns into mega-playboy. It isn’t until later on that the “normal” (barfs when he is near girls normal) Junta comes into his own.

I’ve seem many promising shows focus on other plot aspect such as mega-playboy or some ecchi stuff and simply run with that. This show has it’s ecchi side. After all, a large part of the plot is about a horny teenager who is frustrated with his inability to be near girls. The whole throwing-up thing is a metaphor for the nervousness most teens/people feel when trying to interact with the opposite sex. It’s taken to a bit of an extreme in the show though.

One of the things I enjoyed most from this series is that it is a continuing story. From episode 1 to 15 there is not repetition. Fifteen episodes is not enough time to be “episodic” but it happens sometimes. Yes, the plot is silly but at least the show has a plot. The animation may be dated, but like I mentioned in the comments of the last post, it’s an older show.

If your looking for a good show to watch while your waiting for the next release of Black Lagoon and you’ve already watched that horribly bad Suzumiya Haruhi porno (try out ramblings of dark mirage’s blog), well you know…try something different.
