Nurse Witch Komugi – I am so dense

You see, NWK is a spin-off of SoulTaker. From a story and visual prospective SoulTaker was different from NWK in many ways. The backgrounds and the world in general of SoulTaker were an abstraction, a dull illusion that was meant to enhance the mystery of the main story line. Nurse Witch Komugi has all of the same characters and I think they retain their names as well. The art is more in tune with the standard anime designs and coloring.
Overall, they share similarities in visual style but not in story line. Any normal person would have picked up on the relation between the shows but not lead boy.
Did I mention that it has all the same characters with—probably—the same names? That’s the kicker. I didn’t realize that it was a spin-off until the very last episode of the OVA. It simply “clicked” during the final episode.
>> “Hey, that Mugi looks awfully familiar…”
>> “Where have I seen her before?”
[ending credits start to roll]
[visit anime news network…]
[……]
>> “Ohhh…”
That’s how it happened.
I watched the dubs of Nurse Witch Komugi. I enjoyed the show on its humor and lack of any type of coherent story. Basically, the “bad guys” show up and infect everyone with viruses or generally cause some type of trouble. Mugi goes out and fights the bad guys. She then does her Magical Nurse thing and cures the world. That’s the story for the whole OAV. It’s just a fun show.
So that I can relate this to my last post (which went over like a lead weight) let me say this:
Yes, Mugi is a loli.
