Host Club – Beautiful ending…Did you expect anything less?

I went ahead and watched the final episode of Ouran High School Host Club from y_m. I had been going with your_mom but that’s only because she was fast. By their own admission y_m is not your_mom.

Actually, I’m just kidding. I’ve been watching the Lunar releases because they usually put out the fastest. There wasn’t a quality difference with the encoding from what I could tell, but I didn’t really examine it too closely. Sub quality is another story. Host Club seems like it has been subbed, at one time or another, by every single fansub group on the planet. (more)

It is well deserved attention. If you have been putting off watching Host Club, what are you waiting for? It’s a great show.

The last two episodes of Host Club are not done in classic Ouran silliness. We get some actual depth. I was surprised by what they were able to pull from the characters, especially Tamaki. Tamaki shows a surprising emotional variance in these episodes, and the reason this is surprising is because for the most part Our Lord has acted like a complete air-headed idiot throughout the series.

One of the praises most often thrown upon this show was that it lacked depth. It seemed to be a fun show that we could watch and then forget about. Of course, they had to go and ruin that by slowly developing the characters to the point were we started to understand their motivations. We were shown why this group of people found themselves devoted to such a vain occupation as entertaining a bunch of horny high school girls, and it turned out not to be the obvious reason.

Yes the show is silly, it is often absurdly silly, and it lacks depth most of the time. However, that was the reason most of us started watching it. The icing on the cake is the fact that we were wrong in an overall sense.
