It’s been almost a month since I watched episode 9 of The Third – Aoi Hitomi no Shoujo. I haven’t done a really deep search but I’m fairly sure there hasn’t been a sub past that point. Basically, I felt inclined to write a little something while I waited.

Admittedly, the third isn’t going to be a contender for best show of the year. We all know who’s going to get that. However, I don’t think the show is getting enough love in general.…(more)…

The third has a lot of excellent aspects that I find appealing in a show. Actually, all that it takes to impress me is a good story and well rounded characters. I can pretty much put up with any level of animation quality; although, I prefer the same smooth fluid and detailed animation that everyone else does.

The atmosphere isn’t too unusual for an anime. As a matter of fact, it isn’t too hard to find an anime that is set in a post apocalyptic or desolate world. Some would cut points just for that simple fact. I’m not nearly so fickle as to let something as minor as that affect my opinion of the show.

There is also the Mecha aspect to it. There are mecha. They don’t appear too often. No, I don’t consider the tank mecha. Bogie is awesome!

Honoka, our protagonist, is a skilled fighter and she obviously has all the necessary personality traits needed to live successfully in her world. The problem with Honoka is that she is a romantic, but her life style doesn’t suit her. She is not an aggressive or evil person in the slightest, and that is the issue because her skills are those suited to battle. God knows she can’t write poetry. At any rate, I want to see what happens with Honoka and Iks as it is very apparent that she has a thing for him.

I’m seeing a pattern of heroines with no bust…hummm???

I find Paife to be quite interesting as well.
