Gilgamesh disc 6 – Tatsuya Ape-Shit (Geneon dubs)
Previous Post Gilgamesh disc 1 to 5 …(more)…
I’ve had these screen shots for about a month. They were sitting in a screen caps folder oh my HD waiting for me to process them. I was going to hold out for the next Gilgamesh disc to become available from Netflix so that I could have a dual post. Since Netflix is dragging its ass on getting me a Gigamesh vol 7, I’m going to post this now. Plus, I noticed that my last few posts are not “anime-ie” enough and my front page doesn’t have enough pictures. It’s been a while since I watched this disc so you’ll have to forgive me if I either am not verbose enough or get a few plot points out of order. There was a lot of story and plot progression in the few episodes here, and they didn’t have a whole lot of action. We start off with the pregnant Kiyoko slowly dieing due to her babies abnormality. That is, her baby appears to have the dynamus fueled power. The Widow had warned her that having the baby would have consequences. I think Kiyoko could only see the Widow’s hate for Gilgamesh and not any caring for her well being. She may have been right on the latter part, but that does not negate the fact that the Widow was right to begin with. Kiyoko continues her decline in health throughout that episode and Tatsuya seems to be following in an equal mental lapse.
I found it amusing that Tatsuya and Kiyoko look exactly like their parents. It makes sense that Tatsuya looks like his father, because he is his clone after all. Kiyoko looking like her mother is an obvious story/plot element. It is intended to make a physical link between the father-mother relations ship and the Kiyoko-Tatsuya relationship. We already know that she has a brother complex. We also know there is a sister complex on Tatsuya’s part. We still are not sure if Kiyoko is going to die despite her body having been turned into a clear gelatinous sack. Oh, did I mention that? Her body was turned into a clear gelationous sack. The probability of her living is kind of low at this point. I’m predicting she dies but the baby has all her memories plus hyper-dynamus. This disc was composed of episodes 21, 22, 23. Episode 21 covers what is going on with Kiyoko and her baby. Episodes 22 and 23 are back story if I recall correctly. We learn a lot about the history of Heavens Gate (a research facility) and why the children are clones of scientist that worked there. There are hints that the Gilgamesh group may not be the “bad guys,” who knew? (I did) Finally, the real bad guys–who were pretty bad from the beginning–seem to be coming out of the shadows of the plot (see picture below). Notes: hopefully, I’ll have the vol 7 soon.
I called it, Tatsuya goes ape-shit.
Kiyoko (baby) with her mother and father–with the “widow” before she was a widow.
Updated: 07/29/06: added some extra stuff that I though about after finishing this post.
