Anime Nano Podcast #2
I think what I like about the nano podcast the most is that anyone who isn’t an anime fan wouldn’t get a damn thing these guyz were talking about. Plus, I just like when people geek-out about anime.
There was a lot of talk about the different series that I’ve never heard of; so, by definition I don’t care too much about them. I don’t think anyone really took over the show this time. All three got some good comments in, but it did kind of slow down toward the end. If the commentors are getting bored, so will the audience.…(more)…
There was a little “uncomfortableness” when they got into lolicon. They were actually questioning whether or not lolicon sexualizes young girls? Really, you have to ask. I know these guys have been in the anime thing for a while. Let me answer that question. Yes it does, but like all things there is a gray area. They really didn’t go into it too long because I think they didn’t want to get into the position of defending what many would consider child porn. I admit that some of the lolicon shit is worthless and is basically porn. There is lolicon stuff that is just “cute little girls” and is as harmless as watching a grade school play.
Many like to use the cultural defense with lolicon. They say something along the lines of, “Well…the Japanese culture [insert reason here].” In my opinion there is a big difference between the things that fall under the term “lolicon” and the characters that appear in anime that could be characterized as “lolis.” Simply, it’s the difference between being about “cute little girls” and having “loli” characters in a larger overall plot. In the end it really comes down to who is viewing the material.
We get some good talk about the tsundere and other characters type; plus, some comparison to Star Wars were made. Man, they were laying on the anime geekieness. “Hey Arnold” got in there as well….how the hell did Hey Arnold get into a anime podcast?
There is a lot of good stuff in this one. It’s chalk full of anime geekie-ness…Suzumyia Haruhi no Yuuutsu ending theme was a nice touch, proves my point.
