I’ve been watching The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya in “Haruhi order” recently. Firstly, the show is infinitely easier to understand when it’s in chronological order, supposedly. That is with the exception of episode 3 where Yuki “explains it all.” Yuki laying out the universe for Kyon was mind blowing. I think she did more talking in that one scene than she does in the rest of the combined series.…(more)…

I understand that it isn’t fitting for her character to talk to much and I actually like that about her. I do have a problem though. It would have been cool to have an episode of two were she tried to seduce Kyon. Remember, in episode 00 the Yuki character does try to seduce Itsuki. Of course, it was in a totally stoic Yuki type way. Hilarious.

What ever happened to the cat?

Okay, I know you will probably disagree with me on this one. The screen shot above is from a short couple of frames showing Yuki’s reaction to Haruhi declaring that the SOS was created to, “Find aliens, time travelers, and espers and have fun with them!” I swear that is Yuki’s “surprised” face.

I think she was genuinely startled here. Haruhi created the SOS to find aliens, time travelers and espers. ‘Lo and behold we have an esper (Itsuki), a time traveler (Mikuru), as well as an alien (Yuki). Haruhi isn’t much for subtlety is she?

Every episodes should have had at least one Mikuru pantsu shot. Yuki still has her glasses, I like that. I’m all about megane Yuki. They never had a megane Yuki pantsu shot though.
